Wave energy consists of production of electricity from the use of the kinetic, potential or hydraulic energy of the waves. Argentina is the 6th country in the Americas with the largest exclusive economic zone since it has more than 5,000 km of coastline and a wave energy potential that varies between 20 and 30 kw / m (Canadian Hydraulics Center). The energy of the marine waves has a great advantage compared to other more developed renewable energies such as wind and solar energy. It has an energy density 5 times higher than wind energy and 10 times more concentrated than solar energy. This means that we can obtain more energy per m2. In addition, waves have the ability to travel long distances with minimal energy loss, and they are more predictable and constant than wind or solar.

Since 2015, we have been making long-term investments to diversify our business units and expand into the renewable energy market.

In 2017, QM was technologically linked to the National Technological University - Regional School of Buenos Aires to jointly design the first Wave Energy converter in Argentina.

In 2018, QM was linked to the Instrumentation and Control Laboratory, belonging to the ICYTE of the National University of Mar del Plata, who became part of the project, through the development of the control module and power electronics.

The wave energy converter will absorb the potential energy of the swell by means of a spherical buoy coupled to a mechanical arm. The buoy copies the passage of the waves and transfers its movement to the mechanical arm. This transfers a rotary movement in the input shaft of the kinematic chain, which has as main function to deliver a continuous rotary movement and always in the same direction of rotation on the output shaft coupled to the permanent magnets generator.
